A deuce of an evening. Game, set, and match to the Tennis Club who raised
over £7,000 for their funds. Mellowed by an excellent supper, bidders dug
deep. Those well-known local auctioneers, Floggit and Runne, sold off more
than 70 lots - holidays, days out, home services, luxury food, jewellery,
pictures, theatre tickets, sporting memorabilia, lessons, lifts, and more.
Jill Marshall assembled these photographs - some illustrating just a few of
the lots on offer and some taken on the night.
The evening demonstrated again not only the great
range of talent in the villages but also the generosity of energy and time
shown by the organisers. This generosity was matched by that of the donors
and, of course, the bidders.
